Tips for a Healthy Fourth of July

The 4th of July is all about barbecues, friends, family and fireworks! The fun memories of 4th of July can be tainted if you’re not careful about your safety and health. We’ve got the best tips to make this Independence Day the best one yet!

Apply Sunscreen

Whether your skin burns or tans easier you still need to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. Apply SPF a couple times throughout the day to significantly improve your skin’s protection.

Stay Hydrated

When heat and humidity are above 70, you are in danger of dehydrating. Bring water bottles to your 4th of July festivities and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Alternate Your Alcohol

Who are we kidding? Alcohol and barbecues go hand in hand. Make sure you are not drinking on an empty stomach. After each alcoholic beverage have one non-alcoholic beverage like water or soda.

Protect Your Pet

Just like humans, dogs can get dehydrated from being outside for a long period of time. Make sure to keep them hydrated throughout the day. One tip that is usually forgotten is to apply SPF to your dog’s coat. Their skin can burn easily from the sun.
